Abstract

Background:
Occupational stress is a widespread global phenomenon with significant economic and health implications in both developing and developed countries. It is characterized as psychological, emotional, and physical strain experienced by employees due to job demand, work environment, and organizational culture. Occupational stress is a gradual process where an individual's perception of work stressors leads to a decline in physical and mental well-being, ultimately resulting in Behavioral consequences such as decreased productivity, strained relationships, and burnout.
Objective:
To determine the impact of occupational stress on the mental health of corporate employees.
Method:
It was a cross-sectional study. A convenient sampling technique was used. The sample size was 186. Data was collected from Faysal Bank, National Bank of Punjab, and HBL to study the impact of occupational stress on the mental health of corporate employees.
Results:
The results show that bank worker experience a high level of occupational stress, which affects their mental well-being and general conduct at work. Significant work issues related to workload and expectations are highlighted by the results, which show a mean score of 98.64±8.47 for job satisfaction and 177.62±25.36 for source of pressure. The high standard deviation shows that participant perception of stress and coping mechanisms varied. Notably coping mechanism had a modest score of 75.29±12.05, indicating that stress management techniques may need some work.
Conclusions:
Occupational stress significantly affects mental health and behavior, leading to reduced satisfaction and potential burnout. Implementing targeted interventions, such as stress management training and role clarity, a work-life balance program could help mitigate these impacts and improve overall well-being.
